Tender points fibromyalgiaThe most tender points of fibromyalgiaThere is quite diverse range of co-occurring conditions that sometimes live alongside ADHD.

No one has just ADHD, there is always at least two other conditions along for the life journey

Fibromyalgia occurs mainly with the Inattentive Type of ADHD, and thus is more common amongst females. It is characterised by widespread musculoskeletal pain at certain points in the body.

The pain is accompanied by general fatigue, memory loss, mood and sleep problems. There is no cure for it.

Restless Leg Syndrome, RLS, is very often misdiagnosed and undiagnosed. People with RLS get strange and unpleasant sensations in their legs, creating an irresistible urge to move their legs in order to relieve the sensations.

Feelings that are usually described as “itchy,” or “creepy-crawly,” and even “pins and needles,” are experienced as well.

The symptoms usually occur when at rest, so are mainly felt at night. The symptoms usually come and go, one of the reasons for the poor diagnosis rate.

RLS can be treated quite easily and successfully.

Drunk HazeAddictions of all kinds, not just alcohol and substance, are extremely common amongst people with ADHD. Even the so-called “soft addictions” like gambling, sex, and exercise are prevalent amongst ADDers.

In the cases of alcohol and substance addiction, the addiction must be treated first, before the ADHD. Addicts have a single-minded mindset that revolves only about where the next fix or drink is coming from.

Co-dependency is to my mind the most tragic consequence of untreated ADHD. That’s because it involves the maternal parent of the ADDer. Occasionally the father will become co-dependent.

The biggest problem with co-dependency is that it’s not in the interests of the co-dependent for the dependent to get better. Co-dependency has the power to shatter families in a brutal way.

Memory Loss is a significant problem for ADDers, but usually only short-term or "working memory." This loss of memory for around the previous 48 hours is aggravated by the awful paradox that our long-term memory is superb. ADDers can often remember events prior to the age of one

Some classic memory loss symptoms are; walking into a room and forgetting why you are there, forgetting someone's name, even if you have just been introduced to them, or still more galling, if you have been married to them for 20 years!

Physical Ailments and Allergies such as Asthma, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome are frequently found in ADHD populations.
