ADHD Coaching vs Life Coaching

hands meetingWe are often asked how ADHD Coaching differs from Life Coaching. Thre are significant differences

1. Living ADDventure® ADHD Coaches Have ADHD

We are firm believers that in order to truly understand how someone with ADHD feels and functions their Coach needs to have the condition and been through the Living ADDventure® ADHD Coaching Programme. There is no quick fix and our clients need their Coaches to be available long term to pick them up when they fall.

2. Living ADDventure® ADHD Impairments Assessments

Every person whether they have ADHD or not have at least 2 and often more ADHD characteristics. Even those who are diagnosed with ADHD might be functioning very well despite being labelled ADHD.

At Living ADDventure® we focus intensley on how ADHD impairs someone from living a contented and productive life. Therefore we do a comprehensive 2 – 3 hour Living ADDventure® ADHD Impairments Assessment which covers all aspects of ADHD and co-occurring conditions.

ADHD Coaching Overview

aCoachingSADHD Coaching

We provide one-on-one coaching via Zoom to clients world wide - this works very well, in many aspects this format is better than one-on-one at home or the workplace.

The most important benefit of using digital communication is that the coaching takes place in the client's own environment. I have had clients who sat in coffee shops, and other restaurants, in a green park, and in many an office. This provides a unique level of confidence that enhances the coaching.

You can view a document that sets out the process of ADHD coaching, why we work with as much of the clients environment as possible - all family members and teachers - unless absolutely impossible.

In essence ADHD Coaching starts with a Living ADDventure® Impairments Assessment, followed by a coaching plan developed to address the impairments that have been identified.

Living ADDventure® has developed more than 30 different modules from which the coaching plan is constructed, and which are then adapted to suit each client.

ADHD Coaching should always take place with family members involved. There are few exceptions to this principle. It is important that non-ADHD family members change how they deal with the ADDer. Teachers contribute massively here.

The one exception here is the workplace. Employers and work colleagues should not be informed of an ADHD diagnosis if at all possible. It is highly likely that the ADDer will be victimized in one way or another.
